Today, Women Empowerment is a burning issue across the world that is centred around increasing and improving the social, economic, political and legal strength of women, ensuring equal-rights to both men and women, and above all, making women confident enough to claim their rights and fight against the unjust. It means, emancipation of women from the vicious grips of gender-based discrimination which finds expression in the form of honour killing, female foeticide, human trafficking, sexual harassment and many such horrendous activities. Women Empowerment is not “deifying women”, but rather, replacing patriarchy with parity.
